About me

I'm a nerd. I've always been one. I love the academic environment, the routines and sense of renewal associated with the academic year.  As a professor, my main responsibilities are research, teaching, and service.

The professional activity that I find most energizing is research. The grind of writing and rewriting, finding the right words, crafting the right argument to articulate theory and empirical evidence. Teaching is invigorating. I love my students; they make teaching worth the effort and preparation. As for service, it's more than an activity, it's a sense of purpose. To contribute, to grow, and leave whatever it is better than I found it.
